CACTI and other stings in network monitoring

March 15th, 2008

This article is currently a work in progess, as I continue to extend my knowledge regarding SNMP, rrdtool in general and CACTI specificly, I’ll add information here.

Currently, my main obstacle is the special abbreviation language used in this context. And because there is no Glossar available, I’ll start my own:

  1. NaN = Not A Number : no value / empty data
  2. CDEF = ?
  3. DS = ?
  4. RRA = ?

Sometimes it’s easier to read on and skip the search for detailed information…
